Gas Pipeline Leakage Seach

Open/public
Start date: 01-07-2025 - 12:00
End date: 08-08-2025 - 12:00

Evida is the principal gas distribution company in Denmark. Evida is looking for methods to search for leaks from gas pipelines in the open land and seek a market dialogue with technology and service providers within this field. The target pipeline includes approximately 2700 km of steel pipeline at 20 and 40 bar nominal pressure and approximately 500 km of PE-pipeline at 4 bar nominal pressure.

Evida is searching for solutions to find possible leaks and is open for both technology providers which offer technical solutions for Evida to perform the search work itself or service providers which offer to perform the whole search work and deliver a list of results to Evida, or any solution in between the two.

The framework of the leak search is the EU methane regulation 2024/1787 on the reduction of methane emissions in the energy sector and amending regulation EU 2019/942. Special focus for the work is Article 14, §8, part b (ii) Type II LDAR where repair obligations are for leaks with 1000 ppm(v) of methane at the ground/air interface or leaks above 5 g/hour of methane. Leak search will follow the frequence given in the regulation.

We notice that the minimum detection limit (Article 14, §7), has not yet been provided, but the fulfilment of the minimum detection limit will be an important part in the evaluation of the solutions. Other main factors in the evaluation will be cost and ease of use. We further notice that the Danish natural gas is either north see gas with a content of methane, ethane, propane, etc., or biomethane without the higher hydrocarbons C2+.

For this initial market dialogue, we request you to keep your response in writing. With regards to proposed solutions/suggestions, this could be datasheets of relevant products or a technical description of a solution, etc. Once we get back from our industry holiday period (July in Denmark), we will review the incoming responses and move to a second step where we will conduct meetings. If you prefer to share information that is commercially sensitive or not suitable for public discussion, you are welcome to send it directly to the following email address:

Subject line: EU Methane Regulation 2024/1787

-Please note that any input of relevance to the preparation of the procurement material may be anonymised and summarised for transparency purposes, in order to ensure equal treatment of all potential suppliers.

Evida looks forward to receiving your proposed solution(s), and we will follow up with relevant parties through written correspondence and/or meetings before end of September.
